A 10 year Research & Restoration Project unearthing the Custodian History and Original Features of this Beautiful Gothic Revival Masterpiece.
Since purchasing Summerlands Hall in 2015 we have felt an overwhelming desire to research its history and return it to its former glory.
This Gothic Mansion was designed by Kendal Architect George Webster and completed in 1846. It was built for a successful cotton mill owner called John Harrison and in 1891 was extended and elaborated upon further by another mill owner called Henry Miles Radcliffe.
A succession of custodians followed including Military Officers and even a Convalescence Home for the Merchant Navy.
In 1978 Windermere Estates split Summerlands into 3 luxury dwellings by blocking up arches and doorways. Over time fireplaces and floors were covered over and ceilings were lowered hiding Architectural gems.
Researching its history has revealed some fascinating and often tragic stories.
Over a period of 5 years we have, with great research and care, returned the Hall to a single dwelling.

About Us
I am a Civil Engineer by trade which has allowed a hands on and somewhat fearless approach to undertaking structural repairs and restorations.
My Wife and I share an interest in history and antiques which has driven our inner desire to restore and replace all features internally and externally sympathetically and with as much accuracy as possible.
